A blog about TripTie, travel adventures, entrepreneurs, usability, and design.

It is my pleasure to announce that we are in our final stretch of building the TripTie application. I admit, it’s taken a bit longer than expected, but I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished in a relatively short amount of time (longer than the 80 days we originally envisioned). Up until now, we haven’t really divulged much information about the app (or marketed it); not because we were really in “stealth” or anything but simply because we think it’s really just better to experience it for yourself. Besides, I heeded John’s implied wisdom when he told me to wait to announce much more before launch: “better for all…” But for those who need a bit more to bite, I’ve finally gotten around to writing the “About Us” page of the website. It defines TripTie’s three main goals. Preview it.

TripTie is quite simply, an incomparable way to plan your travel. We have three main goals:

1. To make planning travel easier.
We’ve picked up the brochures and pamphlets at the bureau, done research at the public library, bought travel guides and magazines at the bookstore, and of course sifted through plenty of web sites - planning that perfect trip is darn difficult. There are so many sources of information and no easy way to record the gems you come across. TripTie wants to make this process easier by enabling every way possible for you to store this information, and every way possible for you to take it with you when you need it the most: on your trip.

2. To help people find and communicate with other like-minded travelers.
We think that the best travel agents are people just like you who have already been to the place you want to go to. It would be great if you already knew these people, could call them up at a moment’s notice and download all their travel knowledge: where they went, how they got there, and the tips they gathered along the way. But it’s not always this easy, and you may not know a friend who’s been to Mozambique, Africa. Chances are, however, that someone with similar travel interests has already made a trip out there; and chances are (since travelers are a kind bunch) they would love to share it with you. TripTie is the thread that ties you to these people, these like-minded travelers.

3. To help people share their travel experiences with people who matter to them most.
We believe that every trip you take is life-altering: you come back different. We also believe that the stories you gather on your travels are some of the best stories of all; and that they need to be shared with people important to you. TripTie is the platform in which these stories are recorded, told, and re-told again.

Tell me what you think and go sign up on our launch list so that we can notify you when we blast off!
